After all the options were analysed, the most prudent thing to do would be to effectively make the bridge thicker.  This would be to put 4 pieces of 1/32" birch ply together with double-sided tape and then mill an 1/8" slot through the pieces.  These, in some number, when glued to the top of the bridge would support the new saddle.
